Sabres continue to add depth with the signing of Steven Fogarty

The Buffalo Sabres announced the addition for another depth forward this morning. They’ve signed forward Steven Fogarty to a one-year deal worth the league minimum of $700k. He’s the fourth player that the Sabres have signed to a league minimum deal during this free agent period.

The 27-year-old forward has spent the last four years with the New York Rangers organization playing primarily in the AHL for the Hartford Wolfpack. He does have 18 games of NHL experience, but this is primarily a signing for the AHL. He was a third-round pick of the Rangers back in 2011. He played his college hockey at the University of Notre Dame, which included the year that Sabres director of analytics Jason Nightingale was an assistant coach on that staff.

Last season he recorded 13 goals and 37 points in 54 games games for the Wolfpack. He’ll likely slot into a top six role with the Rochester Amerks next season
