Sam Reinhart’s hat trick leads the Sabres over the Bruins

Score: Sabres 6 | Bruins 4

Shots: BUF 34 | BOS 40

Sabres Goals: Sam Reinhart (18, 19, 20) Arttu Ruotsalainen (4), Casey Mittelstadt (9), and Rasmus Dahlin (5)

Bruins Goals: Steven Kampfer (2), Nick Ritchie (12), Kevan Miller (1), and Taylor Hall (5)

Plus 1 | Luukkonen Debut

Things didn’t start well for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in his NHL debut. The first shot he faced was fired into the back of the net off the stick of Steven Kampfer. The final 10 minutes of the game were rough for him and the Sabres. Two of the three Bruins goals went off the stick of his own defenseman.

He looked good throughout reading the play well and playing big in the net. Encouraging first game for the 22-year-old goaltender. He earned himself a few more starts this season.

Plus 2 | Mittelstadt Keeps Rolling

Casey Mittelstadt stayed hot tonight scoring his ninth goal of the season. That was his eighth goal in the last 14 games for the Sabres. That line overall played well again and controlled the play when they were on the ice.

Mittelstadt’s emergence may be the story of the season when all is said and done.

Plus 3 | Reinhart Hatty

Sam Reinhart’s hat trick allowed the Sabres to get away with the win after the Bruins pushed hard in the third. He reached 20 goals for the fourth straight season and is on pace for 36 goals of 82 games this year.
