As of last night, it seemed the battle for Mike Babcock was a two team race. Either he’d stay in Detroit or head to Buffalo. However, a third team is reemerging. Bob McKenzie tweeted earlier this morning that Toronto was not completely out of the picture. His colleague Darren Dreger backed him up, saying the Sabres and Leafs are now at the forefront.

Babcock has a relationship with Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan, who played for Babcock in Detriot. The Red WIngs coach is expected to make his decision at some point today, possibly in the coming hours.
