Rochester was able to extend their winning streak to a season-high six games on Wednesday night. All was well in the world of the Amerks.

Unfortunately, that is where the excitement stopped this past week.

Rochester would find themselves easily handled by both Syracuse and Toronto, the both outscoring Rochester a combined 9-2.

Three Big Things

1: Moving and Shaking

Movement has been wild for the Rochester Americans these past few days. The AHL’s official transactions list is covered with Rochester Americans from top-to-bottom.

Jean-Sebastien Dea was returned to the Amerks after a brief stint with the Buffalo Sabres. Pascal Aquin had a quick cup of coffee with the Amerks, before heading back to the ECHL.

Scott Wilson returned to the Buffalo Sabres along with Lawrence Pilut, who went up, came back and went back up to Buffalo.

Hopefully, Pilut has EZ-Pass because he is becoming a Yo-Yo between Rochester and Buffalo this season.

In goal, Rochester has been depleted by their parent club for understandable reasons and it only got worse, even if for only a few days.

Andrew Hammond was recalled for Buffalo’s game on Sunday due to a family emergency pulling Carter Hutton from the lineup.

As of this article, Hammond remains in Buffalo.

The life of a professional hockey player can be something else, for sure.

2: Getting Comfortable

We continue to talk about Casey Mittelstadt as much as possible, frankly because many people find themselves interested in the young forward.

Mittelstadt scored his seventh goal of the season over the weekend and continues to find his way down in the AHL.

“I’ve loved it down here“, Mittelstadt told Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. “I haven’t played this much in a while, so it’s been fun being able to play, making plays with the puck and having some fun. It’s been really good.”

It is clear that Mittelstadt is enjoying his time down on the farm. As his re-development continues, it will be hard for Sabres fans to temper their expectations.

3: Falling Off The Pace

Despite Rochester’s recent six-game winning streak, the top spot in the North Division continues to slip away.

Belleville has been beyond unstoppable, putting up a 9-1-0 record in their last ten games. This has pushed their season total to 68 points.

Rochester’s lead over fourth place in the North Division is seven points, with a game in hand over Toronto.
