Amerks Lose Both Games This Weekend, Fall To Seventh Place

For the Rochester Americans, two games hardly counts as a winning streak. Therefore, two games shouldn’t really count as a losing streak either, right?

Well, however you parse it, the Amerks came into this weekend with a winning streak, and they leave it with a losing streak after dropping back-to-back games to the Abbotsford Heat and the Binghamton Senators.

The Amerks lost 3-2 on Friday night to a very good Abbotsford team. The highlight of the game for Rochester was Brayden McNabb’s first goal of the season, assisted by TJ Brennan, whose offensive game has been red hot like pizza supper over the past few weeks. Phil Varone scored the other goal for Rochester. This game also saw the second appearance of the season from rookie goaltender Connor Knapp, who performed well despite getting the loss.

Saturday saw the Amerks fall again by the score of 3-2, this time to the Binghamton Senators. The Rochester scoring came from Evan Rankin and Kevin Porter, and forward Brian Flynn notched an assist to extend his points streak to seven games. David Leggio was back in net, but didn’t fare any better than his rookie counterpart did on Friday.

After dropping two more games, the Amerks sit at 8-6-1, good for seventh place in the West. They’re off until Friday, so get all your Black Friday shopping done early.
