2012 NHL Draft: Sabres Select Logan Nelson In Round 5

With the 133rd selection in the 2012 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres have taken Logan Nelson, a center from Victoria in the WHL.

Nelson stands 6’2”, 188lbs, has a righthanded shot, and hails from Minnesota. He tallied 23-29-62 with 70 PIM in 71 games last season for the Royals.

Nelson marks the fourth big center that Buffalo has drafted with their top five picks, clearly moving to address their weakness down the middle.

Here’s how he describes himself, courtesy of Yahoo! Sports:

1. How would you describe yourself as a player?

“I’m a fast, physical forward with skill. I work with my teammates very well and try to put the puck in the back of the net.”

2. Do you try to model your game after a player in the NHL?

“Maybe a combination of (St. Louis Blues‘) David Backes and (Philadelphia Flyers‘) Claude Giroux. I like their speed, physicality, and skill.”
