NHL Draft 2014: Buffalo Sabres select RW Victor Olofsson with pick No. 181

The Buffalo Sabres drafted Swedish right winger Victor Olofsson with pick No. 181, and with that their 2014 draft is complete.

Oloffson stands at just 5’7”, but that tiny stature didn’t prevent him from putting up more than a point per game in the Swedish junior leagues. It did, however, prevent him from scoring a single point in the Swedish Elite League in only 11 games.

Victor has great speed, and his good hands and hard shot will help him score in the future. It’s doubtful that he’ll ever make it to the NHL unless he can start racking up points against men in the SHL, but his offensive skills make him a lottery ticket worth having in the seventh round.

With that, the Sabres draft is now over. Check back later this afternoon for more thoughts and analysis on the team’s eight new prospects.
