Tyler Myers Will Play In Austria With Kalgenfurter AC

Tyler Myers will join the growing list of Sabres players heading overseas, as it was announced today that he has signed with the fantastically-named Klagenfurter AC of the Austrian League.

Myers is now a part of the fraternity of overseas NHL-ers that includes Tyler Ennis, Thomas Vanek, Christian Ehrhoff, and Andrej Sekera. Myers will wear number 57 for Kalgenfurter and should arrive in Austria on Tuesday, if Google Translate is to be believed.

It should be good for the younger players like Myers, Sereka, and Ennis to keep playing against professional hockey players, gaining experience, and working on their own games. However, with each player that defects to Europe, the chance of a freak injury that might derail a shortened NHL season – or the less likely chance that they simply fall in love with the old world charm of Austria and decide to never leave – becomes more and more likely.

What do you think of Myers’ signing? Who will be the next member of the blue and gold to head overseas?
