Tyler Myers Reportedly On The Trade Block, What Would You Want For Him?

Tyler Myers has long been one of the only “untouchable” players on the Sabres roster, and perhaps the only such player for the most recent deadlines. Well, according to a report by Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, Myers may have finally shed his untouchable label, and he may be on the block. Says Matheson,

Myers is a shell of his former Calder-winning self. His play is better than it was early in the season, but it’s only a ‘C’ on most report cards. His name is certainly out there for trade, but with six years and $33 million left on his deal, he’s a financially risky pickup.

That said, the same former NHL coach stated, “I’m sure 29 other teams would like to take a run at him, figuring he just needs to be somewhere else. You know how it is.”

The Sabres could possibly afford to trade Myers thanks to the emergence of Mark Pysyk, and the fact that Brayden McNabb has found his game again in Rochester. However, if they ended up trading all three rumored defensemen, it would leave them a bit shorthanded in the depth department.

If the report is true, it would be a very big change in the organizational opinion of Myers, from untouchable cornerstone to potential-filled but flawed young defenseman. However, if Myers is on the block, he could fetch quite a high price on the trade market.

As we discussed yesterday, the Sabres could be major players in the trade market, with two defensemen in addition to Myers already rumored to be on the market – Jordan Leopold and Robyn Regehr. So what would you want for Myers, if he is truly on the market? Top prospects? Picks? How many? Let us know in the comments.
