Terry Pegula wins bid to buy the Buffalo Bills

UPDATE: It’s looking like it’s a done deal, and Terry Pegula will be announced as the next owner of the Buffalo Bills today. Of course the move is still pending league approval.

We wrote an article a few months ago about what this deal could mean for the Sabres, or if you want to continue to follow this story from a Bills perspective, make sure to head over to Buffalo Rumblings.

Enjoy it Buffalo. Today is our day.

ORIGINAL: According to multiple reports, Terry Pegula is about to become an NFL owner. The long Bills sale process is finally coming to a close.

Multiple reporters, including Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, Joe Buscaglia, and Adam Benigni, say that Pegula is close to a deal and that the announcement could come as soon as Tuesday. Yesterday was the deadline for the final bids to be submitted.

If that is the case, Pegula will have beat out the Toronto-led Jon Bon Jovi group and Donald Trump, as well as possibly other unnamed bidders.

Speculation began early in the night when Pegula’s daughter Kim tweeted out multiple exclamation points and followed the Bills on Twitter. That’s an enormous case of reading between the lines, but as time went along more concrete reports began to emerge.

If an agreement is reached today, Pegula could be approved at the owners meeting in October.

Pegula has been thought of as the front runner in the sale process for quite a while now, thanks largely to the lock down lease and the trust’s weariness in the Toronto based group’s intentions.
