DBTB Open Thread – Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft coming up

Here’s this week’s updated open thread to keep us all up to date with what’s going on with the Buffalo Sabres and the rest of the league.

There’s some off-the-ice action coming up in the NHL and the potential for General Manager Kevyn Adams to change the face (and the fortunes) of the franchise in the coming weeks.

With the Stanley Cup Finals complete, the NHL buyout window is officially open and already there have been some big names seeing their contracts reworked, with the Minnesota Wild offloading Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, and Florida Panthers parting with Keith Yandle.

Next Wednesday is the NHL Expansion Draft for the Seattle Kraken, with final protection lists due this Saturday. The 23rd and 24th is the NHL Entry Draft and then free agency opens four days after that at noon EST.

In the Sabres’ world, Jeff Skinner has waived his NMC for the expansion draft which should help Buffalo’s attempts to move him.

There’s a couple of looks at the options the Sabres will have on who to protect for the expansion draft – Forwards Edition and Defensemen Edition.

Feel free to add any links to developing news items as the week goes on in the comments below.
