Sabres vs. Devils recap: Sabres remember how to lose, fall 3-1

Breathe easy, Sabres fans. After a few tense games full of overtimes and shootout wins, the Buffalo Sabres kept their dreams of 30th place alive with a 3-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Former Sabres great Steve Bernier scored twice in the second period and while the game was relatively even in terms of shots and possession, the Sabres couldn’t muster enough to top Bernier, let alone the rest of the Devils.

Buffalo’s lone goal came in the third period on the power paly, courtesy of Matt Moulson – the goal was only Moulson’s second PPG of the entire year. Anders Lindback finally came back to Earth a bit, allowing three goals while making 24 saves, while Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves to earn the win.

The Sabres are still three points up on 30th place with eleven games to go, and will try again tonight in Nashville.

Two Questions

1. Can Anders Lindback just cool it with the Vezina stuff please?

After suddenly becoming the best goalie in the league, Lindback made 25 of 28 saves last night, resulting in a .889 save percentage. Will we see MAtt Hackett

2. Speaking of hot streaks, will Johan Larsson continue his?

While Larsson was held point-less, he was tied for the team lead with five shots.
