Sabres vs. Devils Preview: It's A Trap Jim

The Buffalo Sabres are finishing up a stretch of four games in six nights on Wednesday night with a game against the New Jersey Devils on home ice. The Sabres are coming off a 3-2 shootout victory against the Montreal Canadiens that might have been their most important victory of the young season. The Sabres dug out of a 2-0 third period deficit and were able to tie the game early in the third period and take the game to overtime.

The Sabres may have to make some changes to their lineup as Cody McCormick was held out of practice on Tuesday after suffering some sort of injury on Monday. It gives Corey Tropp a second chance in the National Hockey League as he has been called by the Sabres for tonight's game. Tropp was just recently up for four games due to Kaleta's suspension. In those four games, he looked good and even scored his first career goal.

Tyler Myers is looking to get back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the first time in his career. He was expecting to start against the Devils, but it hasn't been determined yet. Jhonas Enroth will get the start as Ryan Miller is still out of the lineup. Enroth had another solid game against the Canadiens and was able to secure his second shootout win of the season. Enroth is now 6-0 on the season and is fourth in the league in goals against average with a 1.76. Enroth has shown that he is a solid goaltender for this team and the team seems to respond well in front of him.

The New Jersey Devils are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins last night which saw the Bruins take the lead three separate times in the third period to get the win. Johan Hedberg had the start, allowing four goals on 37 shots while the Devils managed 30 shots on goal. With the back to back situation for the Devils, it would make sense to expect Martin Brodeur in net for the Devils. His last game in Buffalo was a 2-0 loss to the Sabres on March 26th. The Devils are also looking to get Ilya Kovalchuk back in the lineup after missing the last couple of games

Game time is 7:30 pm and is our second consecutive Versus game.
