SB Nation Blues Blog: St. Louis Game Time

Three Questions

1. Will special teams be as lopsided as the last time these teams met?

Last Thursday, the Sabres struggled to contain the St. Louis power play, allowing two goals on only three Blues power plays. They also struggled with their own power play, going 0-for-4 and whiffing on a 5-on-3 advantage as well. The Blues don’t have a great power play, but the Sabres have the second worst penalty killing numbers in the league while the Blues are one of the best.

2. When will this team break out of their scoring slump?

After scoring ten goals in three games earlier this month, the Sabres have put home just four goals in their last four games, all thanks to Ryan O’Reilly and Sam Reinhart. Names like Ennis, Moulson, Kane, and Eichel have been conspicuously absent from the scoring sheet in recent weeks, and the Sabres can’t afford to wait much longer to break themselves out of this offensive funk. Let’s hear some DJ Kool tonight, eh boys?

3. Will Mark Pysyk make his return tonight?

Recovering from a bone bruise, Pysyk took place in the morning skate, but said afterwards he wasn’t sure if he was in or not. Should he not play, expect Carlo Colaiacovo to pair with Cody Franson again.
