The Buffalo Sabres have traded forward Sam Lafferty to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The team announced the deal just before noon on Tuesday.
Lafferty, 30, returns to the Blackhawks, where he previously played between 2022-2023. Originally a draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins, he was sent to Chicago on January 5, 2022 as part of a one-for-one deal in exchange for Alex Nylander.
Lafferty also played for Toronto, then Vancouver, and was sent back to Chicago on June 26, 2024 as part of a deal alongside Ilya Mikheyev. Lafferty then hit free agency last summer and signed a two-year deal with the Sabres.
He had seven points and 28 penalty minutes in 60 games with the Sabres this past season.
