Sabres trade Brian Flynn to Montreal for a fifth-round pick

And the Sabres are off. Buffalo has traded Brian Flynn to the Montreal Canadiens for a fifth-round pick according to TSN and The Fourth Period, the team’s first move of the day.

Flynn has five goals and 12 assists this season in 54 games with the Sabres, four points higher than his previous career high. He originally signed with the Sabres in 2012 as an undrafted free-agent from Maine. He is a restricted free agent at the end of this season.

The move will open up a spot on the Sabres bottom-six, likely for one of the younger players like Tim Schaller.
