First Niagara Center to be renamed KeyBank Center for 2016-17 season, per report

For the fourth time since building the thing, the Sabres will have a new arena name next season.

The Marine Midland Arena, the HSBC Arena, the First Niagara Center, and starting next season, the KeyBank Center.

For the fourth time since its construction, the Buffalo Sabres home building will have a new name going in to the 2016-17 season, according to officials from Key Bank. The financial organization Key Corp has acquired First Niagara Financial Group assets in Buffalo, and will slap yet another bank name on the downtown arena next season.

Sadly, since adopting the name First Niagara Center in 2011, the Sabres never graced the FNC with a playoff appearance. The officials at Key Bank are surely hoping that the #NextChapter is more successful in that regard.

Goodbye FNC, hello KBC.
