Buffalo inks their 2024 NHL Draft 14th overall pick to a three year deal
The Buffalo Sabres have wasted no time in getting their 2024 NHL Draft first rounder signed to the rookie minimum entry level contract (ELC).
The overall 14th pick fell into the Sabres laps after General Manager Kevyn Adams traded down from 11th and gained a second rounder. The Finn is considered to be one of the more NHL-ready prospects in this year’s draft.
After the Sabres traded away Matt Savoie over the weekend, Helenius getting signed to an entry level deal seemed a highest priority.
Helenius had 36 points (14+22) in 51 games last season in Finland’s top professional league (Liiga). The Ylojarvi, Finland native’s 36 points for Jukurit marked the fourth-highest single-season total by an under-18 player in Liiga history, behind current NHL forwards Aleksander Barkov, Mikael Granlund, and Kaapo Kakko.
