Sabres sign defenseman Matt Donovan to a one-year deal

The Sabres have added depth to their left-handed side of their defensive unit, signing former Islander Matt Donovan to a one-year deal according to Frank Seravalli of TSN.

Donovan, 25, spent 12 games with the Islanders last season, notching three points. His best year came the season prior, scoring two goals and 14 assists in 52 games. If he’s headed for Rochester, Murray is adding a very productive player. He scored seven goals and 14 assists in 27 games in 2012-13 and 14 goals and 34 assists in 75 games in 2013-14 with the Bridgeport Sound TIgers.

Standing at 6’0″ and 205 lbs., Donovan was originally selected by the Islanders in the fourth round of the 2008 draft.
