Sabres send Sam Reinhart to juniors

Not surprisingly, the Sabres decided another year of juniors was the best move for their top pick.

The Sabres announced this morning that they have sent second overall pick Sam Reinhart back to the Kootenay Ice of the WHL. Reinhart had played his nine games this season, meaning that the Sabres needed to decide whether or not they would burn the first year of his ELC by playing him a tenth game.

In his nine games Reinhart notched only one assist and three shots, and was featured on the fourth line for very short amounts of time. He only played seven minutes in last night's game against Boston. He'll get the chance to return to a team where he'll be the focal point, and a team that can certainly use him. Kootenay is currently 3-12 and at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

Replacing Reinhart will likely be Patrick Kaleta, who is returning from injured reserve.
