Sabres send 11 players to Rochester, two to juniors in latest round of cuts

The Sabres have made their second big round of cuts, and there weren’t too many big surprises. Buffalo has announced that they have sent the following players to Rochester: Brady Austin, William Carrier, Dan Catenacci, Colin Jacobs, Justin Kea, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, Chad Ruhwedel, Jordan Samuels-Thomas, Kevin Sundher, Luke Adam and Phil Varone.

The Sabres have also sent Brendan Lemieux back to Barrie and Justin Bailey to Kitchener.

The biggest surprise is likely Ruhwedel, who some including myself believed would get a serious shot with the Sabres this season. However, just because he’s been sent down at the start doesn’t mean that he’ll be in the AHL all season of course.

Luke Adam, who led the Americans in goals last year, will have to clear waivers to return to Rochester. All other players are waiver exempt.
