Borgen, 22, comes to Buffalo on his first recall of the young season.
In seven AHL games this season, Borgen has yet to get on the scoresheet but his play on the ice has clearly been good enough to warrant a call-up, even with the current injury situation.
Borgen made his NHL debut earlier this calendar year on March 29 against the Ottawa Senators but has not yet made his 2019-20 NHL season debut.
It is unclear if Borgen will suit up for the Sabres against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night but it should be noted that defenseman Marco Scandella left Thursday night’s game against the New York Rangers with a lower-body injury.
On Scandella: "It’s not a clear injury, we’re just dealing with a lower-body where it felt like he could but then the skating didn’t go so well so we pulled him there.”

Scandella did return to the game but his current status is unknown.
