Sabres Prospects Stock Up/Down - November 2, 2011
It is Wednesday which means it is time for the weekly look at the Sabres prospects. Luckily, it is a Sabres gameday because most of the prospects struggled through this week. Some were outstanding but most had weeks they would like to forget.
Follow the jump to see the good and the bad for the past week.
Player -Team | Draft Position | Status | Description |
Kevin Sundher - WHL | 44 | (3GP 6G-1A-7P, +3) Sundher likes playing against the Seattle Thunderbirds. He had seven points, including six goals, in a pair of games against the Thunderbirds last weekend.
Jerome Gauthier-Leduc - QMJHL | 68 | (2GP 0G-0A-0P, 0) Gauthier-Leduc has finally started to cool down this season. He still has 11 goals and 26 points in only 14 games, despite having no points this week.
Dan Catenacci - OHL | 77 | ![]() | (3GP 0G-4A-4P, -1) Catenacci remains one of the top point scorers in the OHL, averaging over a point per game. Usually four assists in three games would earn an up arrow but his minus-1 forced me to keep him at neutral. |
Steven Shipley - OHL | 98 | ![]() | (1GP 0G-0A-0P, -1) Shipley did not produce in his return from injury but just being on the ice is a huge plus for Shipley. |
Cedrick Henley - QMJHL | 173 | (2GP 1G-2A-3P, +3) Henley did not match his output from last week, but he continues to produce. All five of his goals were scored in the last two weeks and eight of his 15 points have been in the last five games as well.
Mark Pysyk - WHL | 23 | ![]() | (2GP 0G-3A-3P, E) Pysyk might finally be turning the corner this season. He has huge expectations within the Sabres organization because of his high draft selection and he has not been much of a factor. |
Joel Armia - SM Liiga | 16 | ![]() | (2GP 0G-0A-0P) Armia had six penalty minutes in his two contests this week and he did not play in a third. |
Gregg Sutch - OHL | 143 | (3GP 2G-1A-3P, -1)Sutch is one of the few Sabres prospects on the rise this week. His two goals were double the one he had previously and he doubled his season point totals.
Justin Jokinen - WCHA | 101 | ![]() | Did not play. |
Alex Lepowski - OHL | 137 | (1GP 0G-0A-0P, -1) Lepowski was a minus-1 in his return from injury but he finally returned to the lineup after over a three week absence because of injury.
Brad Navin - WCHA | 197 | ![]() | (2GP 0G-0A-0P, 0) It is difficult to make the transition to the NCAA for most players. Navin has played seven games for the Badgers which should help his development considerably. |
Christian Iasackson - WCHA | 203 | ![]() | Did not play. |
Drew Mackenzie - HE | 209 | ![]() | Did not play |
Colin Jacobs - WHL | 107 | ![]() | (Did not Play) |
Mark Adams - HE | 134 | ![]() | (Did not Play) |
Nathan Lieuwen - WHL | 167 | (2GP, 2-0-0, 1.50GAA .950 sv%)Lieuwen continues his ridiculous season in the WHL. He has a 1.45 GAA on the season and yet he has somehow lost twice in regulation this season and twice in a shootout.
Brad Eidsness - WCHA | 139 | ![]() | Did not play. After a terrible week last week, he didn't see the ice this week. |
Connor Knapp - CCHA | 164 | ![]() | (1GP, 0-1-0, 8.89GAA .733 sv%)Knapp was awful in his brief appearance this week. He allowed four goals on 15 shots and lasted only 27 minutes before he was replaced by Cody Reichard. It is amazing to see how far his stock has dropped in a couple of seasons. |
