Sabres announce Prospects Challenge Roster, featuring Eichel and Reinhart

When fans pack into the First Niagara Center and HarborCenter this September for the first Prospects Challenge, they’ll be able to see plenty of the team’s top prospects.

The Sabres roster, released today, features the team’s two biggest prospects, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. Justin Bailey, Nicholas Baptiste, William Carrier, Eric Cornel, Evan Rodrigues and Vaclav Karabacek will also be skating on offense.

The vet of the blueline is Jake McCabe. The rest is a rather inexperienced group. Brycen Martin and Brendan Guhle will both need to step up if the Sabres hope to defend home ice.

Andrey Makarov will likely start most if not all of the game, as he’s the only goalie on the roster that is Sabres property. Keegan Asmundson, who played his college hockey at Canisius, is one of two backups on the roster.

The event, which runs from September 11-14, features a round robin tournament between the Sabres, Boston and New Jersey’s prospect rosters. Tickets for the games are $10. Practices are free and open to the public.
