Sabres Pick n’ Mix Week 2/17

It’s the year of the rookie here on the Sabres Pick n’ Mix this season, with newbie predator007 teaching the wily old dogs here a trick or two. If you take a look at the scoring spreadsheet, he’s been right at the top every week and has a commanding five point lead on another rookie Brett Ludwiczak, who is holding off the pair of bflo and jtmatsyek by just a point.

It’s never too late to play, and consistency is the key, so make sure you come back and get your picks in. Show us your hockey smarts and how well you know the Sabres and their opponents. You can play some fantasy hockey right here, with no cheatsheets, pencils or calculators needed.

This is how the game is played – before the beginning of each gameweek (starting on Sundays), there will be a post similar to this one outlining the Sabres’ schedule for the week.

2/17 – Buffalo Sabres vs Pittsburgh Penguins
2/19 – Buffalo Sabres vs Winnipeg Jets
2/21 – Buffalo Sabres @ Toronto Maple Leafs
2/23 – Buffalo Sabres vs New York Islanders

We will need you to come up with the following picks –

1) winning team [W] in each game = H or V
2) goals [G] over/under in each game (based on an O/U of 5.5 goals) = O or U
3) powerplay goals [PPG] over/under in each game (based on an O/U of 1.5 goals) = O or U
4) scorer of the game-winning goal [GWG] (this includes a shootout winner)
5) penalty minutes [PIM] over/under in each game (based on an O/U of 20 PIM) = O or U

Scoring is simple, one point for each correct answer per game, a max of five per game. You can submit your answers in the comments section of this post, in the form of (for example) –

V O O Malkin O
H O U Vanek O
H U O MacArthur U
H O U Pominville U

It’s that easy! The game will close before puckdrop of the first game of the week, so we’ll need all your week’s picks in before that. This will be season-long, so make sure you don’t miss a week!

PS: We got the idea from the excellent fantasy hockey blog folk over at FHS, feel free to go over and play the ‘Thursday Night Live!’ over at FHS too.
