Sabres Links: ROR apologizes, Reinhart improves skating, Sabres in on Stamkos?

Let’s be frank, it’s been pretty dead when it comes to hockey. The last moves from the Sabres happened months ago, and everyone in the league is still patiently waiting to find out if Cody Franson will ever sign with an NHL team. It feels like a hockey wasteland, yet, the regular season is really creeping up on us. A month from yesterday the Sabres will have their regular season opener. Preseason starts in less than two weeks. Some of the Sabres top prospects, including Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart, will be on the ice this Saturday for the Prospects Challenge.

What I’m trying to say is, it’s almost hockey season again.

With that, we’ll be increasing content once again.

While we wait for things to really heat up, here’s some of the latest Sabres news from the past week:

  • Elliotte Friedman had an interesting tidbit in his story on Steven Stamkos, saying that many people in the business suspected the Sabres were interested in the high profile player at the draft [Sportsnet]
  • Ryan O’Reilly spoke for the first time yesterday since being charged with impaired driving, apologizing to the Sabres and fans [Buffalo News]
  • Reinhart is seeing results from his powerskating drills, and says he feels the strongest he ever has [Buffalo News]
  • Jamie McGinn is trying to prove he wasn’t just a throw in in the O’Reilly trade [Buffalo Hockey Beat]
