Sabres To Keep Lindy Ruff And Darcy Regier For Another Year

Yesterday, Sabres president Ted Black revealed to the AP and then later to WGR 550, that the Buffalo Sabres will retain the services of head coach Lindy Ruff and GM Darcy Regier for the 2012-13 season.

The Sabres obviously did not live up to either their high expectations or their high payroll this season. Many fans were hoping because of that fact that owner Terry Pegula and Black would at least consider the possibility of making a switch, but their swift decision to announce both men are staying reveals the strong faith that the management has in both their coach and GM.

Darcy Regier is seen by most fans to have had a successful season. Aside from the unmitigated disaster that was Ville Leino, his other acquisitions of Robyn Regehr and Christian Ehrhoff worked out quite well. Most fans lauded Regier’s deadline deals as well, enjoying a first round round pick for Paul Gaustad, and seeing the Kassian/Hodgson deal as a win for Buffalo thanks to the nice surprise that was Alexander Sulzer.

Lindy Ruff, on the other hand, ended the season poorly, with players in the locker room calling their coach out for calling his players out to the media. Ruff also presided over the worst road losing streak in franchise history, and finished the season 1-3-1 despite a miracle run to even get back in to playoff contention.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone, but Ruff and Regier are back for another campaign. What do you think, Sabres fans?

How do feel about keeping Lindy Ruff and Darcy Regier for another year?

I like it (or at least tolerate it) 253
Ruff must go 102
Regier must go 38
They should both go 119
