Krueger’s tenure as Sabres head coach has been much maligned, as highlighted by a 36-49-12 record in 97 games.
This season has been incredibly tough for the Buffalo Sabres, who are currently mired in one of the franchise’s worst slumps.
In their last 12 games, Buffalo has posted a 0-10-2 record and have been outscored 49-19 in those games.
At the time of Krueger’s firing, it is unclear who will step up and replace the former head coach.
General manager Kevyn Adams will speak to the media at 11:30am this morning to further discuss the change behind the bench.
UPDATE: Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News provided an update on the vacant head coaching position.
BREAKING: I've learned Don Granato will be the #Sabres interim coach and Steve Smith has also been fired. Development coaches Matt Ellis and Dan Girardi are going to be behind the bench as assistants.
