Three Questions

1. How will Tyler Myers look in his return?

The Sabres defense has sorely missed Myers, who’s missed the last six games with an injury. In those games, the Sabres are 1-4-1, and have been outscored 13-2 in their last three. Myers was quietly having his best year since his rookie campaign as the team’s #1 defenseman paired with Josh Gorges, and the Sabres will need him to get right back to it in order to help break this 1-9-1 streak they’re currently mired in.

2. Will Mikhail Grigorenko take advantage of his promotion to the second line?

So far this season, the Sabres have largely been a one-line team, with Tyler Ennis, Zemgus Girgensons, and Matt Moulson doing most of the scoring. Tonight, should yesterday’s practice lines hold, Mikhail Grigorenko will get the chance to play on the second line with some talented players in Chris Stewart and Drew Stafford. Can he help spark another scoring line, or will the Sabres have to keep relying on their top players to do all the heavy lifting?

3. How will the Rochester call ups perform?

Phil Varone and Tim Schaller were recalled from the Amerks yesterday, and will center the third and fourth lines, respectively. This is Varone’s first call-up, and the AHL-er currently leads the Amerks in points.

Projected BUF lines

Moulson – Girgensons – Ennis
Stafford – Grigorenko – Stewart
Hodsgon – Varone – Flynn
Deslauriers – Schaller – Kaleta

Gorges – Myers
Ristolainen – Zadorov
Weber – Strachan

Goal: Jhonas Enroth
