Sabres at Capitals preview: Will Ovechkin play?

Game #66

Three Questions

1. Will Alexander Ovechkin play?

Ovi has a minor lower body injury, and Capitals coach Barry Trotz said that “It’s just more of a [question of] if he can do what he needs to do and be able to perform the way he needs to perform without it bothering him.” Obviously Ovechkin’s presence would be a huge factor in whether the Sabres will be able to hang with Washington, currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

2. Who will center the second line tonight?

With Mikhail Grigorenko sent back to Rochester, presumably that means that Zac Dalpe is ready to go. But who will replace Grigorenko (for two shifts) on the second line?

3. Which version of the Sabres from last night will we see – first period, or third?

The Sabres dominated the first period against the Senators, but got manhandled in the third en route to their 3-2 loss. Which version of that teams will we see tonight?

Projected BUF lines

Moulson – Varone – Ennis
Foligno – Larsson – Gionta
Deslauriers – Schaller – Hodgson
D’Amigo – Ellis – Dalpe

Benoit – Bogosian
Weber – Ristolainen
Zadorov – Meszaros

Goal: Anders Lindback
