Sabres announce training camp roster, schedule

The Sabres training camp begins this Thursday, and the team has released the roster of players that will be attending. All the players you’d expect are there, including Jack Eichel, Ryan O’Reilly, Evander Kane, Tyler Ennis and Sam Reinhart. Some players who had good showings at the Prospects Challenge are also getting a longer look.

Multiple youngsters will be at this year’s camp, including some players who are likely not going pro this season, like Vaclav Karabacek, Brendan Guhle and Devane Stephens. The camp will offer Amerks coach Randy Cunneyworth a longer look at some of his fancy toys, like Justin Bailey, Nick Baptiste, Evan Rodrigues, Cal O’Reilly and Jake McCabe.

There are no surprises when it comes to veteran invitees. Patrick Kaleta is attending the camp on a PTO, but is already signed to an AHL contract. Former BU Terrier Cason Hohmann, who scored in the Prospects Challenge game against New Jersey, is also attending camp with an AHL contract in hand.

There will be seven goalies in camp, highlighted by Robin Lehner and Chad Johnson. Nathan Lieuwen, Andrey Makarov, C.J. Motte and Keegan Asmundson will also be there. Motte was signed to an AHL deal by Rochester this summer. He was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in the 2013-14 while with Ferris State. Asmudson was the former starting goalie at Canisius College.

The first sessions begin Thursday, when the players report for their physicals. Training begins the next day at 9 a.m. and runs through September 24th. You can view the entire schedule here.
