Rochester Americans announce 2015-16 AHL schedule

The AHL schedule has been released for the 2015-16 season, and the Rochester Americans will start next year at home, facing the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday, October 9.

The full Amerks schedule can be found here, but we’ll give you some of the highlights below.

Big changes are ahead this year for Rochester, who move from the Western to the Eastern Conference after the AHL shuffle this summer, and their schedule features 50 of their 76 total games coming against their fellow North Division teams: the Toronto Marlies, Albany Devils, Binghamton Senators, St. John’s IceCaps, Syracuse Crunch, and Utica Comets.

Out of their remaining games, 18 will come against the rest of the Eastern Conference, while the final eight games will be split against two Western Conference teams, the Grand Rapids Griffins and Lake Erie Monsters.

Aside from a new conference and new opponents, one of the biggest highlights of the season takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 30, when the Amerks play St. John’s at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

This will be a very different looking Amerks team from last year. New/old coach Randy Cunneyworth and new additions in players like Nick Baptiste, Justin Bailey, and Cal O’Reilly will try to improve on the Amerks poor 2014-15 campaign.
