Robyn Regehr's Trade Value On The Rise?

The Sabres have a number of defensemen that could be traded, and rumors have been surfacing that Robyn Regehr could be a hot commodity.

With the trade deadline looming on April 3rd, and the Sabres essentially out of the playoff race, they should be active participants at the trade deadline. They also have a number of defensemen whose contracts will be expiring at the end of the season, and according to some recent rumors, Robyn Regehr's name could be near the top of many team's lists.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period suggested yesterday that due to the high price tags of other defensemen on the trade market, Regehr could be a big fish on the trade market.

Regehr was convinced to come to Buffalo from Calgary by Terry Pegula and Darcy Regier, and he had to waive a no-trade clause with the Flames to do so. In order to be traded away from Buffalo, he'd have to do the same for the Sabres before any trade could go through.

It's interesting to note that while Regher's contract is manageable for most teams at $4.02 million, the Sabres have another impending UFA defenseman with an even cheaper contract - Jordan Leopold at $3 million. Although his play has dipped a bit this season, he should still be a player teams are interested in.

Which player do you think the Sabres could get more for in a trade? Which one (if any) would you be sorry to see go?
