The Buffalo Sabres have locked up another pending free agent, signing forward Jason Zucker to a two-year extension. Per TSN’s Darren Dreger, the contract extension is worth $4.75 million per season.
The 33-year-old has missed the last few games – his last action was on February 25 – as he continues to deal with an injury. Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reported on Thursday morning that per head coach Lindy Ruff, the Sabres are trying some different forms of treatment for Zucker. Ruff called it a ‘frustrating situation’ for Zucker.
Zucker has 44 points, including 18 goals, in 54 games this season for the Sabres. Over the course of his NHL career, he’s appeared in 751 games and has 214 goals and 200 assists for 414 points with the Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators and the Sabres.
The Sabres officially announced the extension on Friday afternoon.
