Per Elliotte Friedman, the Buffalo Sabres have reached a settlement with Beck Malenstyn that will see the left winger earn $1.35 million over each of the next two seasons.
Malenstyn was otherwise headed for arbitration after being acquired by the Sabres during the 2024 NHL Draft. Malenstyn came to Buffalo from the Washington Capitals in exchange for the 43rd overall selection. The Capitals then used that pick on defenseman Cole Hutson.
The 26-yeear-old had spent the last several years in the Capitals organization, bouncing between the NHL and AHL clubs. This past season was his first full NHL season, where he put up 21 points (6-15) in 81 regular-season games. He also appeared in four playoff games.
A 2016 draft pick of the Capitals, Malenstyn has appeared in 109 NHL games to date.
