Recap: Sabres Fall to the Coyotes 4-1

Another poor effort at home results in a 4-1 loss for the Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes met tonight in a game between two clubs at the bottom of the standings.

Dylan Strome kicked off the scoring on the power play by banking the puck off of Johnson from behind the net. This was the second career goal for the 2015 third overall pick.

The Sabres evened things up midway through the period. Nathan Beaulieu made a nice play on the boards to get Evan Rodrigues free. Rodrigues let a shot go that was blocked in front, but Jordan Nolan was there to clean up the rebound.

Late in the period, the Coyotes took the lead again on the power play. A Derek Stepan shot was deflected by Scott Wilson a trickled into the far corner of the net.

Chad Johnson took a shot off the mask early in the first period that stunned him. He stayed in the game and came out for the second period, but ended up leaving in the middle of the period. Linus Ullmark replaced him in goal.

The Sabres had their chances in the middle frame but were unable to beat Antti Raanta. They went 0 for 3 on the power play in the period. Justin Bailey had a few good chances but was stoned by the Coyotes goaltender.

Rodrigues had one of the nicer plays of the season pulling off a beautiful full speed spin-o-rama in the neutral zone but was again unable to beat the goaltender.

The Sabres outshot the Coyotes 11-5 in the period but trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes.

In the third period the Sabres had a very poor showing. They only managed four shots until the final minute of the period and ended it with six shots in the final 20 minutes.

Richard Panik made it 3-1 half way through the final period. Max Domi added an empty netter with nine seconds remaining to give the Coyotes their eighth win in their last 11 games.

Comment of the Game

Well ....

We play crappy teams next with Montreal and NYR. We might as well continue the slide.

Damn, you Vancouver.
