Recap: Sabres Fail to Score Again in Loss to Bruins

The Sabres jumped on the Bruins early who played last night in Boston against the Blue Jackets. Things got a little heated early as Zach Bogosian dropped the gloves with Kevan Miller after Miller dropped Jacob Josefson with a big hit.

Buffalo peppered Anton Khudobin with 17 shots in the period, but were unable to get one by the Bruins goalie. Boston countered with 10 shots of their own in the first. Brad Marchand had a few chances and a few posts kept the game scoreless after one.

The Bruins came out with a better start in the second period. They held the puck in the Sabres zone for a good part of the first half of the middle frame. Jake DeBrusk got the Bruins on the board with a beautiful shot over the glove side of Robin Lehner. Evander Kane was foiled on a scoring chance at the other end just before DeBrusk scored the first of the game.

The Sabres had their chances in the period including a second wide open net for Benoit Pouliot, but he shot the puck into a Bruins defender again. After 40 minutes the Bruins held onto a 1-0 lead.

Buffalo had a few more opportunities to get a puck by Khudobin in the final 20 minutes. However, they were unable to come through. The Bruins would add two empty net goals in the final two minutes from Tim Schaller and David Backes in route to a 3-0 victory.

Comment of the Game

Man, this season is slipping away badly

Looking ahead to January, we’ve a tough schedule. Not sure that we are going to do much more than we’ve already done.
