The Buffalo Beauts have announced that Pete Perram will be the team’s head coach for the 2019-20 season. The announcement comes a few weeks after former CWHL pioneer Mandy Cronin was named general manager.
Perram served behind the bench for the Swiss Women’s National Team from 1998-2001, leading the club to the elimination round in 2000 and helped the squad get promoted back into the top division. He coached in AAA and AA programs in Ontario, and most recently, Perram was associate coach in the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to coach the Buffalo Beauts and play my role in shouwcasing amazingly talented and dedicated women,” Perram told the NWHL upon the announcement. “I look forward to working with Mandy Cronin in taking this great organization to the next level of success and to provide incredible entertainment for hockey fans in Western New York.”
Perram has worked with Cronin before, when the GM played goaltender for the team Perram was coaching in the now-defunct and unrelated NWHL.
Perram will be the team’s fourth head coach, following co-coaches Shelley Looney and Ric Seiling, as well as Cody McCormick.
At this writing, the Beauts are the only NWHL that has not signed a player for the upcoming season.
