Olympic results and viewing schedule for 2/15 – USA vs. Russia

Yesterday’s results

Sweden sneaks by Switzerland 1-0

Daniel Alfredsson scored the only tally while Henrik Lundqvist earned the shutout. Sounds like Sweden to me.

Czech Republic downs Latvia 4-2

Ted Nolan continues to look for his first win as the Czechs put on a predictably solid performance in their 4-2 win over Latvia.

Canada shuts out Austria 6-0

A natural hat trick in the second period from Jeff Carter led the way in a shutout rout of Austria. This has not been Thomas Vanek’s year for avoiding blowout losses.

Finland blows out Norway 6-1

How bad was this game for Norway? Finland’s goalie recorded two assists during the game.

Today’s schedule

Slovenia vs. Slovakia

3:00am ET – NBCSN

In a surprise upset, Slovenia defeated the formerly great Slovakia 3-1.

USA* vs. Russia

7:30am ET – NBCSN

Here it is – the first major test for America in the men’s hockey tournament. Both teams are coming off of wins in their opening games, and with two powerhouse offenses facing off, this one should be a doozy of a round robin game. Jonathan Quick will go again, and you can read more about the game in this short SBN preview.

*Sabres players involved – Ryan Miller

Switzerland vs. Czech Republic

12:00pm ET – USA

This is a game that is happening. My head is filled with too much USA to know much about it.

Sweden vs. Latvia*

12:00pm ET – NBCSN

The heavy underdog Latvian team goes up against powerhouse Sweden, and will need all the Ted Nolan grit in the world to have a chance in this one.

*Sabres players involved – Zemgus Girgensons, Henrik Tallinder, Jhonas Enroth

Note: All game times listed are EST. Games can also be streamed from NBC’s Olympic website or through their NBC Live Extra app.
