NHL Trade Deadline 2012: No Activity From Buffalo With Hour To Go

The NHL Trade Deadline usually sees a bunch of players being moved to a bunch of new teams. This year, with an hour left to go before the deadline ends, there have three different trades at the deadline.

The first trade saw forward Andrei Kostitsyn head to the Nashville Predators for a 2nd round pick. Kostitsyn will now join his brother in Nashville, Sergei, who he played with when the two were in Montreal. Andrei has 12 goals and 12 assists on the season and has been somewhat of a discontent in Montreal for much of his stay.

The second trade was more of a salary dump with Mike Commodore heading to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a conditional 7th round pick. This move essentially is a move to clear some space for the potential of another move down the road.

The final NHL trade saw Minnesota send defenseman Nick Schultz to the Edmonton Oilers for Tom Gilbert. Schultz had one goal and two assists in 62 games with the Wild. In other metrics, Schultz was -10 on the season and had 30 penalty minutes. On the flip side, Gilbert had 3 goals, 14 assists, -4, and 12 penalty minutes on the season.

With that, the final hour of the trade deadline is upon us with the general discontent of Sabres fans growing as the Sabres still not making an official move. One thing to remember though is the last hours are usually the busiest hours so never say never.
