NHL Trade Deadline 2012: Sabres Complete Multi-Player Deal Featuring Zack Kassian

The Buffalo Sabres have made the biggest deal of the deadline as they sent Zack Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani to the Vancouver Canucks for Cody Hodgson and Alexander Sulzer.

Kassian has three goals and four assists in 27 games this season. He has enamored a bit of a legend among himself with his physical play in the OHL. That physicality has gone down in the NHL with 20 penalty minutes in those games. Gragnani has struggled this season with only one goal and 11 assists after making headwinds in the Philadelphia Flyers playoff series.

Hodgson has 16 goals and 17 assists for the Vancouver Canucks in 63 games this season and has been in consideration for the Calder Trophy. Those totals will put Hodgson at 4th overall in points and 3rd in goals on the Buffalo Sabres. Hodgson is 22 and has one more year left under his entry-level deal at $1,666,667. Sulzer seems to be a throw in piece of this deal as he has only played in 12 games for the Canucks and has only one assist in those games.

With this deal the Buffalo Sabres get their center for the future.
