NHL scouts early mock draft

NHL Central Scouting will release their final rankings for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft next month after the conclusion of the regular season. In the interim, two anonymous scouts (one from each conference) were invited to share their mock first round drafts on the NHL website. The Buffalo Sabres have two picks in each of the first two rounds of the draft, and are well-placed to make any trades if they feel necessary.

Keep it here after the jump to see who the two scouts are predicting the Sabres will be picking up. The draft order used here is from the rankings on March 21st.

Eastern Conference scout -

11 BUFFALO SABRES
Cody Ceci, D, Ottawa (OHL)
SKINNY:
Big, rushing defenseman with a booming shot is an offensive force.
25 BUFFALO SABRES
Phillip Di Giuseppe, LW, Univ. of Michigan (CCHA)
SKINNY:
Fleet-footed winger has a finishing touch.

Western Conference scout -

11 BUFFALO SABRES
Derrick Pouliot, D, Portland (WHL)
SKINNY:
Building their group with some highly skilled players and Derrick definitely fits the bill.
25 BUFFALO SABRES
Oscar Dansk, G, Brynas Jr. (SWE-JR)
SKINNY:
A little run on top-end goalies; Oscar will complement Ryan Miller in time.
