NHL line brawl: Corey Tropp sustains broken jaw

Buffalo Sabres forward Corey Tropp has a broken jaw and concussion and will be out for approximately five weeks, coach Ron Rolston announced on Wednesday morning.

Tropp sustained the injury during a fight with Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jamie Devane on Sunday night. The fight was the beginning kindling for the eventual line brawl that ensued after Buffalo enforcer John Scott attempted to engage Toronto forward Phil Kessel.

The result of the brawl was 211 penalty minutes and the suspension of Kessel for three exhibition games, as well as a 10-game regular season of Toronto forward David Clarkson for an illegal line change. Rolston was also given a fine for player selection and team conduct. The amount he was fined remains undisclosed.
