Final Thoughts
The Sabres had another sluggish start which was understandable considering their game the night before went into a shootout. UPL came up clutch in the first to keep the game close. In particular, he had an unbelievable glove save on a 2-on-1 chance that looked like a sure goal. Buffalo was able to regain their footing and secured two goals and the lead in the second. Norris continues to impress as he makes his mark on another game. Benson’s no look five-hole goal off the rush was a great reward to a player that seems to do everything but finish most nights. It looked like fatigue set in during the third period. The Devils took control of play and Buffalo was holding onto their lead the best they could. UPL stood tall and stymied all attempts of tying the game. Eventually, Krebs was able to ice the game on an empty net after a great individual effort to beat out an icing. This gives the Sabres 6 straight wins and are closing the gap on a playoff spot. They now sit just 3 points back of both wild card spots and 3rd in the division. Hopefully, they can keep the momentum into their Tuesday matchup against Ottawa.
