Johnny Oduya signs two year, $7.5 million deal with Dallas

Cross another name off the available free agent defenseman list. Johnny Oduya has opted to join former Blackhawks teammate Patrick Sharp in Dallas, signing a two-year, $7.5 million deal with the Stars.

Oduya had reportedly turned down a three year, $15 million deal from the Sabres earlier this week. His choice could simply be chalked up to wanting to play for a team that can win immediately, with Dallas likely more equip to challenge in the playoffs than the Sabres currently. He’ll be 35-years-old when his contract runs out.

A ten-year vet, Oduya scored two goals and eight assists in 76 games with Chicago last season.

With Oduya now off the board, attention could turn to defensemen Cody Franson and Christian Ehrhoff.
