Jack Eichel Returns to Practice

Buffalo Sabres star center Jack Eichel has returned to practice today. He’s been out since February 10 with his second high ankle sprain in two years.

If Eichel returns to game action on Thursday or Saturday it’ll be five weeks removed from the injury. A high ankle sprain can be tricky and range anywhere from four to eight weeks in time spent on the shelf.

Eichel still leads the team in goals (22) and points (53) even though he’s missed 14 games so far.

He skated on a line with Zemgus Girgensons and Jason Pominville in practice today according to the media in attendance. This seems to be a good indication that he could play on Thursday against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but we’ll see what Phil Housley says after practice.

Returning to practice today as well was Evan Rodrigues and Seth Griffith. Also, all three goaltenders (Robin Lehner, Chad Johnson and Linus Ullmark) were on the ice for practice.
