Final Thoughts
This first game at home after a long road trip can be difficult no matter the opponent. The Flyers took advantage in the first period and held a lead until late in the second period. Lyon came up clutch by battling in net while the Sabres found their legs. Once they did, they turned up the heat on the Flyers and took over the game. Thompson evened the score by extending his goal streak to five games. Ostlund gave them back the lead with a quick wrist shot through traffic, and Norris built some cushion with a wide-open look on the powerplay. This was a great way to start the Jarmo-Era. Every player found a way to contribute, and more than half of the skaters ended with a point (10 of 18). The one true negative from the game is that Connor Timmins left the game in the third period with a broken leg. We hope he can have a full and speedy recovery. The Sabres have now won 4 straight games and are beginning to find some consistency. Their next test comes on Saturday when they host the Islanders. Hopefully, they can build on the momentum they have generated.
