Amid Friday’s NHL trade deadline, the Buffalo Sabres squeezed in one more last-minute deal, sending defenseman Henri Jokiharju to the Boston Bruins. In exchange, the Sabres received a 2026 fourth-round draft pick, which was originally Edmonton’s.
Jokiharju, 25, heads to Boston after six seasons with the Sabres. In his time with Buffalo, he skated in 351 games and notched 81 points and 122 penalty minutes. Previously, he spent part of one season with the Chicago Blackhawks, and has played 389 career NHL games to date.
On another note, the Sabres also completed an AHL trade, sending Nicolas Aube-Kubel, who recently joined to the Amerks, to the New York Rangers organization. Buffalo received Erik Brännström in return.
Brännström, 25, was drafted 15th overall by Vegas in 2017. He’s played 294 NHL games to date, mostly with Ottawa and briefly with Vancouver. He appeared in 28 games this season with Vancouver, eight with their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford and six games with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
