Foligno likely out for opener, Sulzer clears, no more roster moves neccessary

Despite reports of the lines at today’s practice making some believe that Johan Larsson would be heading down to Rochester, it appears that the Sabres will not need to make any moves due to Marcus Foligno likely not being able to play on Wednesday. Ron Rolston addressed the media this morning to let them know the news.

The Sabres were expected to make a move of some sort today as they were one roster spot above the regular season limit after putting Alexander Sulzer on waivers. Now with the Foligno injury the decision on the final player to send down or waive will be delayed.

Speaking of Sulzer, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie he did clear waivers and will be heading to the Americans. This gives Rochester a very solid veteran presence on the blueline and allows the Sabres to recall him in case of injury. Sulzer scored three goals and one assist in his first full season in Buffalo last year and is back after signing a one year extension this off-season.
