I think it’s safe to say that Linus Ullmark is NOT a playoff goalie.
With tonight’s overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ullmark’s overall pro playoff record is 3-14, which includes 0-6 with the AHL Rochester Americans the 2 seasons he played with them as the Amerks were swept 3-0 by the Toronto Marlies both seasons.
Ullmark is a good regular season goalie, as seen by his performance with the Boston Bruins, and this season guiding the Ottawa Senators to the playoffs, something, however, that he was unable to do his years in Buffalo. But the Sabres had other problems than goaltending those years.
Ullmark’s first year in Boston, he was 0-2 in the playoffs. The next season he finally won a playoff game as he went 3-3, but was benched for Game 7 in favor of Swayman. However, the Bruins lost that game to the Florida Panthers.
This year with Ottawa Ullmark is 0-3. It will be interesting to see if the Senators make a goalie change in goal for Game 4 or stick with Ullmark.
